A loan helped hire, train, and retain talented instructors and facilitators to create powerful movement experiences.
I’m a kid of the nineties and grew up moving to fitness leaders like Richard Simmons and Billy Blanks, but never could have imagined that one day I would be leading classes of my own. My passion for Latin music and movement started after a college study abroad trip to Mexico. I danced the summer away, and returned to Kent, Ohio hungry for all things salsa and merengue. By 2009, I became a licensed Zumba instructor and started to grow my following across Northeast Ohio. Following my passion for Latin American culture, I put my classes in Northeast Ohio on hold to spend 15 months living abroad in Rio Branco, Brazil. From food to friends, music to dance, l fully assimilated to the culture and also shared my talents as a Zumba instructor. It was the first Zumba class the city had ever seen, and as a result, the city has a growing team of certified instructors today. After returning home in 2012, I secured a corporate job in customer service and continued to teach Zumba on the side, but I knew that I wanted my impact to be greater. In 2018, I left my amazing corporate job to create a life that I truly love. I started working with other instructors to create a new dance fitness format, Brazilian Rhythms, and also worked to secure motivational speaking engagements to share my story and empower women to create lives that they love. I’ve had the opportunity to present for high school groups as well as professional conferences across Cleveland. Today, I continue to dream even bigger for Nola Movement and know that by having a brick and mortar space, I’ll have a home base to create the experience that I’ve shared across Northeast Ohio and the world, with my community.
