Aysa's story
I am A.D.M.R, an ambitious mom of three handsome boys along the side of my supportive and hardworking fiance. Today, I am proud of how far I have come. At the age of 16, I experienced the worst thing imaginable as a teenager. I was shot and paralyzed from the waist down. Being told I would never walk again, undergoing 20+ surgeries from ages 16-24, and always losing my job due to the time I had to take off had me feeling defeated. But as a child of God, I knew no weapon or words formed against me shall prosper. I worked hard getting myself back, my strong will and dedication made me the very woman that I am today. I knew I could no longer work for anyone and this had a major impact on my desire to start my own business. Growing up in Cincinnati, Ohio, where there are limited opportunities, entrepreneurs are forced to conquer the unknown. Becoming a Mortar Alumni has inspired and prepared me for my business and future endeavors. I had to shape my fate and understand that my emotions are determined by the things I think and the words I say. So I have learned to use self-discipline and self-control to think about the things I want rather than allowing my mind to be preoccupied with the things that I don't want, or my doubts and fears. I am in the habit of creating clear, positive, exciting pictures of myself performing at my best, and of my goals as if they were already achieved.
