Catherine's story

Catherine is a married woman with six children, aged 8 to 27, who are in school. A merchant, she is a speculator buying grains, stocking them, and reselling them later at the right time. In this business for eight years, she operates at a market in the capital and at nearby markets.

Now on her 2nd loan cycle with the microfinance institution YIKRI, she makes the repayments on time. She is requesting a loan to pay for 6 sacks of beans to stock up and resell to her customers. Her plans for the earnings include using them for her business, for her savings, and for the children’s school fees.
