Julia's story

Julia is 48 and married. She lives with her youngest child in the Chepito Bajo sector of the Mórrope district. Most of the people in this district live in rural areas. It belongs to the Lambayeque province, which is located an hour from the city of Chiclayo. For six years she has been selling beer and groceries in her home. The business was born from the need for an additional income, which would allow her to help support her family. Her husband’s income as a farm worker is not enough to pay the family expenses. Thanks to the effort Julia has put into getting ahead, the business is well received. She started by offering a few products, and then she slowly expanded the convenience store. She currently mainly sells general groceries and beer. This business is important to the community because they are in a rural area. It is a long distance to the main town. The inhabitants cannot go there everyday to get the products they consume daily. For the first time Julia is asking Edpyme Alternativa for a loan for 1,000 PEN. She will use the money to buy more groceries to expand her business. Her biggest desire is to keep growing as a businesswoman and to make her convenience store grow. To do that, Julia gives the best of herself to get ahead in her business. She is well known and valued by her neighbors. They consider her to be a responsible woman who is always ready to help when she is needed.
