Clara Maria's story

Clara María R. P. is 49 years old and lives in the town of Cartagena, in the neighborhood La Campiña where everybody is involved in sports such as football soccer. She has an internet business and a candy shop called Clara Luna, both businesses managed from her home. She started the candy shop 10 years ago selling candy and underwear. From then on her horizon has broadened and today her home also offers the service of phonecalls and internet. She has received 2 prior loans form Fundación Mario Santo Domingos which have allowed her to increase business, improve her life economically, and have the possibility to support the professional schooling of her children. One daughter is a photographer and helps her with her business.

The requested loan of $2.250.000 will be spent on rehabilitation of a room at her house for business as she needs more space. This is her main goal. She also wishes to buy a computer to face the growing demand of internet in her neighborhood. The use of internet has grown because the young people reach a higer academic level and internet is used as a means of communication. Her goal is to continue meeting the demand, to offer better service to her customers and to grow within the next two years so the premises will be in optimate conditions.
