A loan helped to buy betel leaves, betel nuts, lime powder and sleeves of cigarettes for her market business.

Monica's story

Monica is a 42-year-old woman who is married with six children and they live in a rural community outside Honiara, capital of Solomon Island.

She runs a small market business selling betel nuts, betel leaves and cigarettes in her community to earn a living. She has been in this business for three years.

Monica has requested a loan to pay for additional betel leaves, betel nuts, lime powder and sleeves of cigarettes to increase her stock and assist her in running her business.

She plans to use her profits to meet her family's weekly expenses and improve her business.

She joined SPBD in 2019 to gain access to financial services for her business.
