Danson's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support
A loan helped to purchase a biodigester to improve his farm with sustainable technology and to replace propane with biogas for cooking and heating bath water in his home.
Currently, he finds himself spending excessive amounts on petroleum-based fertilizer, and the cost continues to increase. He also believes that the chemical fertilizer hurts the quality of his vegetables, and he worries about the impact of the chemicals on his local environment.
Danson wants to reduce his operating costs and sees his investment in a 12-cubic-meter Sistema Biobolsa biodigester as an excellent opportunity. Using his biodigester, he will be able to turn the cow manure generated daily on his farm into biofertilizer and renewable energy.
He'll feed the system with manure, and through a process of anaerobic digestion, the organic waste will be transformed into methane-rich, renewable, potent organic fertilizer and biogas.
The biofertilizer will be applied to his crops, improving both quality and yields without him having to spend more on petroleum-based agrochemical fertilizers. The biogas will replace the propane he currently uses to cook and to heat bathwater for his family.
This loan represents 69% of the full price of the biodigester; the remaining part was covered by a cash down payment and a government subsidy.
