Basilidesa Hidelisa's story
Basilidesa, 55, is a very jovial, married mother of three adult children. She lives just with her bricklayer husband in her house located in the south of Lima. For the last 8 years she has sold clothing and shoes, preferably brand-name. She started off selling to her family members and neighbors. Gradually, she became well-known and now the business is quite profitable. When she needed capital, her husband would help out and this is why she doesn’t neglect her household duties. Besides, she’s happy because her husband, who is a bricklayer, sometimes is out of work. Basilidesa’s greatest wish is to have all the various varieties of clothing items available so that she can sell more and her profits will be higher. This is her 7th loan with MFP and she wants to continue to make her repayments on time so that she can continue working. She is happy in her communal bank because she gets along well with her fellow members because they are all responsible. She will use the funds to buy clothing items in bulk so that she will have lots of items to offer her customers at a good price.
