Jardines De La Loma Group's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to invest in the purchase of pigs, vitamins and dewormer.

Jardines De La Loma Group's story

There are 10 women living in the Guatemalan South Coast, in the Department of Retalhuleu. They dress humbly with light clothing due to the heat of the area. These women are part of the Community Bank of Friendship Bridge "Jardines de la Loma". They have joined the vision of fundraising with the 1st loan from Kiva to invest in their businesses ranging from raising pigs to selling medicine.

Among the group is Maricela, one of the members of this communal bank. She is a single woman who is 31 years old. She did not attend school. To cover her own expenses, she makes a living fattening pigs that she later sells from her home. She has three pens and in order to increase the number of animals, she needs this loan. She has carefully planned to invest in the purchase of some pigs, vitamins and dewormer.

Maricela and her other community bank partners are eager to attend monthly training offered by the “Microcredit Plus” program of Puente de Amistad (small loans, training, basic health services). This program aims to empower women on issues focused on business, family, entrepreneurship and women. This month they learn about the importance of providing good customer service and diversifying businesses to increase revenue. They will also participate in health clinics.

Maricela and her partners send their thanks to Kiva lenders from all over the world. Thank you!
