Specioza's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase a big saucepan and stock of charcoal.

Specioza's story

Specioza is 21 years old and lives in the town of Ggaba in the Abaita Ababiri region of Uganda. She has two children, with one of them currently in school. For the past three years, Specioza has been working hard to manage her catering business, where she sells fast foods.

To help expand her business, Specioza has requested a loan of 1,400,000 Ugandan shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase a big saucepan and stock of charcoal to support the business. This will help Specioza to generate greater profits and improve her family's standard of living by providing them with enough food.

Specioza hopes that in the future, she will be able to open up a bigger restaurant.

Specioza is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to microfinance loans, the program provides both a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities, and a forum for life-skills training.
