A loan helped To invest in expanding the business.
Lilia's Group's story
Lilia is married and has one school-aged child. To make a living, Lilia owns and operates a specialized retail store. While not the only means for generating revenue, the main source of income for the business comes from selling seafood products and dressed chicken in the local community. Lilia has been engaged in her business for over five years and earns approximately 5,000 PHP a month for these activities.
In 2009, Lilia joined ASKI to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and ability to engage in business activities. Lilia has successfully repaid a previous loan of 7,000 PHP from ASKI, and is requesting a new loan of 8,000 PHP, which will be used to invest in expanding the business. This loan will be Lilia's third loan from ASKI. She plans to use the additional revenue to financially support immediate members of her family.
ASKI is one of the most successful microfinance institutions in the Philippines. It has 25 branches covering the Central and Northeastern areas. Its clients are mostly farmers, fisherfolk and small entrepreneurs.
