Jay's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped secure inventory for Vizion Eyecare Services to provide quality eye wear and contact lenses wherever there is a need.

Jay's story

As a single mother of three children, I feel it is important to leave a legacy for the future. By overcoming the challenges I faced as a single parent, a student and a female in the business industry, I want to demonstrate strength and resilience for my children. After being in management and optics for several years, I obtained my Master's Degrees in International Business and Business Administration. Throughout my management career, I've encountered several patients that lacked the access, education and resources to obtain consistent vision care. With the lack of clarity in insurance coverage most patients are unaware of their vision benefits. One day, I received a call from my son's local charter school seeking vision services for their students. Research suggests that at least 25% of all children need vision correction. The goal for Vizion is to provide all students, insured or not, with quality eye wear to help them succeed. By increasing eye health and visual acuity in these students, we can potentially decrease the educational gaps in our schools. Although, I am aware of non- profits that provide these services in Urban areas, I realized that there was still a need left unmet. These experiences prompted me to create a solution that would meet the eye care needs of the under-served and immobile.
