Mujeres Talentosas Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy an industrial stove with a grill for her two new businesses!

Mujeres Talentosas Group's story

Many restaurants in the coastal department/state of Suchitepequez offer freshly caught shellfish to their customers. Brenda, the 40-year-old President of the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank “Mujeres Talentosas”, learned about the shellfish business when she was a teenager.

Her husband is a bricklayer and his income is not sufficient to cover the household expenses including the education of their five children (12-22). Her business has grown and Brenda has decided to open two additional businesses.

She would like to start a “tortilleria” or a tortilla shop where corn tortillas are freshly made three times daily. She would also like to open a small restaurant serving regional dishes. Brenda is requesting her first Kiva loan to buy an industrial stove with a grill.

There are eight ladies in the Trust Bank located in the department/state of Suchitepequez. They have convenience stores, sell chicken meat, clothing, shoes and shellfish. As they have little or no formal education, the women appreciate their monthly educational trainings, part of the “Microcredit Plus” program of loans, education and health care services. They gain useful business management tools, and learn about healthy habits, and women’s issues. Every other month, the ladies have access to basic health care services.

In supplying capital for these loans, Kiva lenders are held in high regard. Thank you to each of you!
