Joyitas Group's story
The Joyitas Communal Bank works in the Centro Focal Panamericana. The group has 11 members, and they have had 17 cycles. The women’s businesses are different handicrafts, knitting and producing sweaters, merchant, selling sweets, footwear production, hairdresser, electronics, silk screening, grocery store, seamstress, selling jackets, and production of handmade baskets. Julia L. is one of the oldest members, and she has been a member since the association began. This means that she has been a member of the A.C. Joyitas for eight and a half years. At 52 years of age, she has a large family, which is comprised of three married children, three children about to get married, and six children who are under the guardianship of Julia and her husband. Julia says that she used to have a business selling food. Now, thanks to the help of one of her children, she learned how to sew jackets. She changed businesses, and now it is going better. During these years the loans have been varied depending on the needs of the business. The request now is for Bs 1500, an amount that will cover the purchase of a roll of fabric and accessories like zippers, lining, cuffs, and thread. Yuri F. and Jacquelina L. do not appear in the photo.
