Agnes's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy farm inputs like certified seeds and nutrient-rich fertilizers, improving the quality of her farm produce and increasing her income as a single mom.

Agnes's story

Agnes is a single mother of four children living in Molo, a town surrounded by prime agricultural lands which favours large-scale grain farming, dairy and horticultural farming. Agnes loves agricultural production because it is her only way of providing for her family. She is a mother who works hard to make the world a better place for her family. Ever since she started farming, Agnes has made tremendous steps in her life. Agnes’s determination to persist without giving up hope is her major weapon in fighting poverty. She works hard to meet the demands of her small family, including her children and her farm.

Agnes has been working on her farm for ten years. Through farming, Agnes is able to meet her family's basic needs. Access to modern-quality farm inputs is a pillar of the agricultural revolution. However, in Kenya, a developing country, fertilizer and seed allocation by the government is way below farmers' needs. Since Juhudi Kilimo, in partnership with Kiva, ventured into the affairs of smallholder farmers in Kenya, farmers can attest that there has been a significant improvement in input availability.

Currently, Agnes is seeking a loan to buy farm inputs like certified seeds and nutrient-rich fertilizers needed to improve the quality of her farm produce and increase her income. To others, it might just be a mere loan, but to Agnes, it’s the biggest opportunity she will have this season for changing her life.
