Sorn's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to drill a well and install a hand pump well on the top of the drilled well.

Sorn's story

Sorn is 64 years old and a widowed mother of one child who is working in a small factory. Sorn has small pieces of land where she grows rice to sell every harvest season. Sorn works the land, cultivating rice in order to generate the necessary income to cover household costs.

Farming is the important source of the family's income. She has been doing this for more than 10 years. In each harvest season, local traders in the region often come into the village to buy agricultural products from villagers.

Due to the shortage of finances, Sorn has applied for a loan of USD 1,000 to drill a well and install a hand pump well on the top of the drilled well. She is hoping that she will not face a water shortage in the future and that she won't have to spend much time collecting water from distant areas anymore.

In the future, she wants to buy land for farming and renovate her old house.

She expresses her thanks to all Kiva lenders for showing their interest in those who are poor like her.
