Mujeres De Restauracion Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy fruit and ingredients for her business.

Mujeres De Restauracion Group's story

Maria, a 51-year-old wife, mother and entrepreneur, wakes up early each day to take care of her household duties. Then, she works at one of her three businesses selling pastries, fruits or icy treats. She sets aside some of her income so that her two children, now grown, can complete their high school education. Maria is requesting her 2nd Kiva loan to buy fruit and ingredients for her delicious confections.

Maria and 7 other women belong to the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank “Mujeres de Restauracion” in the lush green tropical state of Suchitepequez. People who live in this area speak Maya Tz'utujil and Spanish. Although Maria only had 2 years of formal education, she has continued to learn about a variety of relevant topics in her monthly meetings. A facilitator, using games, role-playing, pictures and diagrams, covers topics related to business, health, women, and family. Every other month, the ladies have access to basic health care services. Friendship Bridge calls the combination of education, health care and loans “Microcredit Plus”.

These ladies are most appreciative of the Kiva investors from all parts of the world for learning about them and funding their much-needed loans.

Thank you to each of you for your kindness and your generosity!
