Agness's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy pineapples and bananas.

Agness's story

Agness is 23 years old and lives in the town of Luwero in the Luwero region of Uganda. For the past three years, Agness has been working hard to manage her food stall at which she sells bananas and pineapples.

To expand her business, Agness has requested a 2,000,000 UGX loan from BRAC Uganda that she will use to buy more pineapples and bananas, helping her to generate greater profits. Agness will use her profits to buy personal items for herself, like clothes and shoes, pay house bills and provide for the basic needs of her family, thereby improving on their standard of living.

Agness hopes that in the future she will be able to open up a tailoring shop.

Agness is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to microfinance loans, the program provides a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities and a forum for life-skills training.
