Malieta's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy pandanus for her weaving business and also new fishing net and fishing equipment, and pay for renting a boat for fishing.

Malieta's story

This is Malieta. She is 48 years old, wife of a fisherman and a mother to nine. Only four of their children are still at school. They live in their own home, on the island of Vava'u.

Malieta runs a business of weaving and fishing. She started her weaving business about eight years ago, but the fishing business started way back when they got married. Malieta conducts her weaving at home, together with her two daughters who have already finished school but have not yet found a job. They conduct the weaving almost everyday.

Malieta's husband goes fishing, and then Malieta sells the seafood at the local market. They make really good money from it. Not only does the fish and seafood sell out, but they also have it for family food. A healthy food. She sells her mats and taovala at the local market, together with the seafood.

Because their boat is still being renovated, they have to borrow a boat for fishing. Therefore, Malieta is planning on using her loan money to buy pandanus for her weaving, and also fishing net and fishing equipment, and to help pay for the rent of the boat.
