Nanuola's story

This is Nanuola. She is a 71-year-old divorced mother of four from the Central area of Tongatapu. Her four grown children are all married and have their own children.

Nanuola stays at her son's house. She runs a business of selling fruits and flea market items and also preparing flower patterns for funerals. Even though she is old, she still manages to run all three of her businesses well and to budget her time wisely.

She has her own market house in town, where she sells out both her fruits and flea market items at the same time. She only prepares flower patterns when there is customer demand for it, and she uses real flowers only. Her flea market and fruit sales take place every day from morning till evening.

Nanuola makes very good money from her business. She currently employs two girls to help her with her flower pattern business and her flea market.

Her business is running very successfully, and she is hoping to use her loan money to renovate her market place and build a bigger market place and to employ more people, for she is getting old and cannot do all the jobs that need to be done.

The smile on her face shows how proud she is with her business. Help Nanuola keep that smile in her face.
