La Ray's story
B-More and Charm City are 2 endearing names of the city I was born and raised in, Baltimore. I grew up with such pride as Baltimore is much more than the TV show "The Wire". There are so many jewels in our back yard like Fort McHenry National Monument, Baltimore Basilica, Eubie Blake Center, Reginald Lewis Museum and The National Aquarium. My great grandmother Mama Mamie owned a grocery store in Baltimore and lived to be 102. She really didn't make a lot of profit because she always helped community families that needed food, but couldn't afford to pay. My mom owned a retail store on North Avenue. She would have back to school cook-outs to help kids in the neighborhood get clothes and supplies. I served 12 years in the US Air National Guard, worked as a Registered Dental Hygienist for 11 years and an Esthetician for 3 1/2 years. I didn't know as a child or even a young adult; but I was destined for entrepreneurship. In fact I know more than ever that it is a part of my DNA. 12 years ago I was diagnosed with a rare form of skin cancer that was mis-diagnosed 2 times. Being persistent and a clinician myself I finally received the correct diagnoses and treatment. I changed my diet, lifestyle and overall mindset of health and wellness. This journey is ultimately the reason I pursued opening my wellness spa boutique focusing on restorative skin care treatments. I want to provide a safe and loving haven for individuals to come and experience top quality services in a luxurious atmosphere. It is my passion to change the narrative of Baltimore City and let young people know that if my family can establish and operate successful businesses--so can they.
