La Primavera Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy more dairy products and personal care products to resell.

La Primavera Group's story

Most women from all parts of the world have gotten to be experts at holding jobs and caring for their families. This is what Nidya has done in the department of Chimaltenango in Guatemala. She is 28 years old, with a high school diploma awarded in arts & sciences, married and the mother of 3 children, who are between 5 and 13 years old. She sells dairy products, meat by the pound and personal care products. With some of her income, Nidya sends her children to school. She has planned carefully and is requesting her 3rd Kiva loan to buy more dairy products, as well as personal care products to resell.

Nidya, along with 6 other ladies, is a member of the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank “La Primavera” located in the department of Chimaltenango. The ladies have businesses ranging from selling prepared foods and dairy products to traditional textile fabrication, as well as the sale of personal care products. They either have small locales or walk from house to house with their products. The women learn to manage their businesses (budgeting, planning, investing, savings), care for their families (nutrition, health, hygiene) and empower themselves (self esteem, women’s rights/roles) at their monthly meetings. This useful combination of education, loans, as well as bi-monthly access to health screenings is called “Microcredit Plus”.

Nidya and her friends send their gratitude to Kiva investors from all parts of the world for funding their much needed loans!
