Nancy's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy farm inputs to improve her horticulture farming, and as a woman who is unwilling to let her children suffer, to turn around her life.

Nancy's story

In a world where people are more concerned about material possessions, Nancy (pictured above) is much more concerned about the welfare of her six children. She is a humble mother living in Kitale, a town surrounded by prime agricultural lands which favor large-scale grain farming, dairy and horticultural farming.

Nancy is a mixed farmer who has more than 10 years of experience. Through experience based on curiosity and her natural abilities, Nancy has emerged as one of the most respected farmers in her village. Nancy is a competent farmer who has been rearing dairy animals, poultry and growing different varieties of crops.

One objective that Juhudi Kilimo aims at fulfilling is increasing the ease of accessing farm inputs and income-generating assets for farmers. Through the intervention of Juhudi Kilimo and Kiva, fertilizers, pesticides and other important farm inputs have become more accessible to its members than buying a bottle of water.

Nancy has taken this loan so that she can use it to buy quality farming inputs, such as certified seeds and nutrient-rich fertilizers, which she plans to use on her farm. With these inputs, Nancy will be assured of a good harvest, which will consequently be reflected in her pocket. This loan will be a “turning point” for this hardworking mother and will make her life better in 2019.
