Jacinter's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy farm inputs like certified seeds and nutrient-rich fertilizers in order to help a single mom improve her farm's yield, earn more profit, and sustain her family.

Jacinter's story

Jacinter is a single mother of seven children living in Nyahururu, a remote area located on a gentle plain before the ascent into the central highlands of Kenya. This area has tough living conditions and to survive you must have tough skin. But Jacinter has defied all the odds and has chosen to work hard so that she can meet the requirements of her loving family. She is their only breadwinner. Jacinter works on her farm, growing trees and vegetables and rearing dairy cows and poultry.

The biggest constraint to the success of Jacinter is the use of poor-quality fertilizers and lack of a chemical control method of pesticides and herbicide. Juhudi Kilimo has partnered with Kiva to provide financial services to smallholders around Kenya. Through these financial services, farmers in Nyahururu now can buy productive assets and important agricultural inputs for use on their farms.

Jacinter is seeking this loan to buy farm inputs such as seeds and fertilizer. This loan will enable her to improve her production through use of quality farm inputs. This intervention will help her fill the increasing demand for food in the market and, in the process, generate more income to repay the loan debt and elevate the quality of life for her family.
