Gilbert's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!
A loan helped to build a handicraft business to support his remote community in Sepik Province, Papua New Guinea.
Gilbert is based in Port Moresby, the capital of Papua New Guinea and has established a handicraft trading business called MAS APMA Carvers. Gilbert is currently buying and selling Ialibu woven baskets. His vision is to provide economic and social development for the master weavers from his home community who live in and around Wewak, East Sepik Province. Gilbert has been accepted into the Real Impact Accelerator program and through this opportunity he will get the support to build his handicraft business through developing new products using the traditional skills of his weavers. Real Impact provides links to international designers which helps Gilbert access export markets but to support this work Gilbert needs a working capital loan. The new products will show how product design combined with the use of traditional skills can assist in bringing economic opportunity to his community, which currently has few other means to earn any income.
