Asianut Farmers Group's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to buy a grinding machine.

Asianut Farmers Group's story

Phoebe is 50 years old. Together with her husband, they grow cassava on a large scale.

Phoebe is requesting for a loan from VisionFund Uganda to buy a grinding machine. "Kalo" is a staple dish in soroti made out of cassava flour; very many people grow cassava, yet few have the money to buy a grinding machine to make cassava flour. The demand for flour is high, yet suppliers are few. It's at this point that Phoebe identified a need and thought of how to use this opportunity to earn extra income.

She states, "As a cassava farmer, I already have the resource to support my cassava flour supply business, and thus requested for a loan to buy the machine. With this machine, I will be making my own flour as well as hiring it out to other farmers to grind their cassava as well, and with these incomes I will be able to construct a permanent house for my old age."

Phoebe is challenged by floods and droughts. She is grateful to Kiva for the financial support.
