Las Populares Yepocapa Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy more American clothing to resell.

Las Populares Yepocapa Group's story

The President of the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank “Las Populares Yepocapa” is 52-year-old Estela who has shouldered a tremendous responsibility. Estela was widowed 3 years ago and has raised 12 children who range in age from 8 to 35.

She was able to send the older ones to school for 9 years. The younger children are still in school. Estela sells American clothing in the local market of her community. She is requesting her 4th Kiva loan to buy a variety of clothing.

Estela went to two years of adult school and continues to learn during her monthly educational trainings. Along with 6 other ladies who live near her in the department/state of Chimaltenango and who are members of the Trust Bank, she learns about effective business management practices, health, family matters and women’s issues. Every other month, the women have access to health care services. This effective combination of loans, education and health care services is called “Microcredit Plus”.

These 7 women are proud and dedicated entrepreneurs who are becoming more empowered each day. Their businesses selling poultry, clothing, personal care catalogue products are growing because of their Kiva loans. Thank you to each of you for your kindness and your generosity!
