Christine's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase more cassava, baking flour and cooking oil.

Christine's story

Christine is 17 years old and lives in the town of Kibuli in the Makindye region of Uganda. For the past 2 years, Christine has been working hard to manage her catering business, which sells fast foods.

To help expand her business, Christine has requested a loan of 1,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more cassava, baking flour, cooking oil and other items to support the business. This will help Christine to generate greater profits and improve on her family's standard of living by providing them with enough food. Christine hopes that in the future she will be able to own a big furniture workshop.

Christine is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to microfinance loans, the program provides both a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities and a forum for life-skills training.
