'Aita's story

Meet 'Aita. She is a 48 year old mother to ten and a wife to a farmer. They live at their own home. 'Aita runs a business of growing crops, where she and her husband grow and maintain the crops. When it is harvest,'Aita sell them out at the local market. This has been their family's main source of income for years, and it has become a part of their lives. In their plantation, her husband grows taro, kumara, cassava and also yams of different kinds. '

Aita's main market day is Saturday, for it is the shopping day for most people, in preparing for Sunday. Their business is running very good, and more money flow into the family. However, apart from cyclones and bad weather that will surely affect the plantation, the main problem is thieves. There is always thieves visiting their plantation and stealing most of the crops. Her husband then has to build a little hut and sleep at the plantation to guard the plantation.
