Kapiolani's story

This is Kapiolani. She is a 47 year old divorced mother of three and a grand mother of one. She lives with her children and her grand child in their own home. She runs a business of tapa making and weaving. For the tapa making, she is joined by her sister and other women for making tapa, and for her weaving, she runs it on her own, at home. They conduct the tapa making only once every week, enabling her to conduct her weaving at home, almost everyday.

During their tapa making, they make larger size, middle size and also small size of tapa, then divide it among themselves. Kapiolani prepares her tapa and sends it overseas for more marketing. She also sell it at the local market to random people. For her weaving business, she weaves taovala, mats and fihu from white pandanus only, and also sell it at the same market where her tapas are selling.

Kapiolani keeps her business running in order to provide for her children and meet their need so they could not feel the absence of their father from their family. Thank you for your investment in Kapiolani.
