A loan helped to buy mulberry for her business of tapa making.

Moala's story

Moala is a 48 year old mother of four and a wife of a farmer, from the Western side of Tongatapu. Her business is tapa making, and she is joined by women in their village in a tapa making group, where they conduct the tapa making once in every week. They make tapas and divide it among them. Moala, helped by her daughter, decorates her tapas, then advertises it through the internet and also sells it out at the local market. Because many other women are doing tapa making also, Moala has to make sure that she makes the perfect one, in order to be picked and sell out. She makes her tapa special, through it's decoration. Her husband helps her out with her business, by planting a mulberry plantation for her. The plantation is not yet ready to be used. So Moala applies for a loan to buy her business mulberry. Moala's family mainly depends on her business, and it becomes a part of their lives. She is planning on making more money, in order to renovate her house and expand her business.
