Felicia's story

I have been known as Organizational Administrator, Therapist, Substance Abuse Counselor, Adjunct, mother and now grandmother most of my adult life. Education, mental health and community advocacy are the core of my existence. Hence, I find it quite natural spending my future seeking to assist individuals in mental health, legal advocacy, social injustices and empowerment. I'm an African American, female minority who attended public and private education developing into a self-employed clinician and advocate assisting both disadvantaged and well to do clients in increasing their personal potential. I have taught Ethics of Psychology for several years and note that there are very few scenarios that can result in a concrete “don’t do it” decision process. I am eager to enhance my clinical skills and work place setting to more competently assist my future clients. As I have previously stated, I have developed awareness that there are disparities within healthcare opportunities and services are not equally accessed throughout the world. I am aware that I alone can’t change the world, but I can change my community. It is my belief that training, and awareness foster individual responsibility and I must make a change.
