A loan helped to buy green bananas and potatoes.

Moline's story

Moline is 20 years old and lives in the town of Bulenga in the Kiyinda region of Uganda. She has 2 children with 1 of them currently in school. For the past 2 years, Moline, has been working hard to manage her food stall, which sells potatoes and green bananas.

To help expand her business, Moline has requested a loan of 1,200,000 Ugandan shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy green bananas and potatoes, and will help Moline to generate greater profits and business will expand. Therefore, Moline will be able to meet the basic necessities at home, thereby improving on their standard of living. Moline hopes that, in the future, she will be able to buy a plot of land.

Moline is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to microfinance loans, the program provides both a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities, and a forum for life-skills training.
