Los Emprendedores De Iribamba Group's story

Leonardo, age 46, belongs to the communal bank "Los Emprendedores de Iribamba" [Entrepreneurs of Iribamba], which is in its second loan cycle and is led by him. It is composed of 14 members (9 women and 5 men), and they consider themselves an entrepreneurial, hard-working group.

For 18 years, [Leonardo] has been working in the production of cacao. He is applying for his loan through Kiva for the maintenance of his parcel of cacao, to prune, weed, and clean it and avoid infestations in order to obtain a better harvest and [improve his] productivity.

Leonardo has three children, ages 20, 18, and 17. He seeks to get ahead so that they can continue in school, and [he wants] to continue saving so that they can study at a university.

His hope is that the price of cacao can always be maintained and not go down in order to continue making powdered chocolate from the cacao for use in chocolates.

He is considered to be a hard-working person and a leader, with the will to continue fighting to meet the challenges that life presents to him.
