A loan helped to buy an additional dairy cow to improve her milk vending business.

Agnes's story

Agnes lives in a small, isolated community in the Thika area of Kenya. Despite a difficult living situation and general lack of access to the outside world, she is a hardworking farmer. She began farming a few years ago. Today she has achieved great milestones in terms of diversifying from crop farming by introducing farm animals such as dairy cows. She also grows crops on her farm.

Agnes is a mother of four who has managed to take care of her children with her income from selling milk. She has always wanted to take care of another dairy cow, but a lack of capital has prevented her from doing so. She is now seeking a loan to buy an additional dairy cow to improve her milk vending business. The cow she intends to buy is a breed that produces rich, creamy milk.

With this cow, she will produce more milk, which will translate into more income. Demand for milk in her area is high, but the supply is low. So, through this loan, Agnes is going to have more milk and comfortably meet demand.

Her vision is to keep even more dairy cows so that in the future she will be able to build a biodigester, which would help her to save more energy.
