Total loan: $125

Byumba, Northern Province, Rwanda / Services

Letitia's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase more raw sorghum for processing and sale.

Letitia's story

Letitia's business supports her well. Through milling and reselling raw sorghum in the Byumba area of Rwanda, she has been able to support her household, including her three small children. She managed to buy a cow that gives them milk, and sells the surplus milk to her neighbors, while her husband provides taxi rides on his bicycle. They are an industrious family, working hard to improve their lives.

Letitia's main business however, is sorghum processing. Sorghum, a drought-resistant cereal grain, can grow with limited water, and the final grain can be processed into a sweetener, used as animal feed in its raw form, and processed into beer or flour. As a supplier of sorghum, Letitia helps others in her community to create their own products, as she is a key supplier in the community.

With a loan of 100,000 RWF, Letitia will increase her supply, thus boosting the profits she can re-invest into the business for future growth.
