Claire's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy farm inputs such as fertilizer to enable this borrower with a good credit history to grow more crops and create hope for herself this season.

Claire's story

Wonderful community of Kiva,

To lead a comfortable lifestyle has always been the dream of Claire (a mother of three children). She is is a smallholder farmer who has worked with a lot of care and perseverance to achieve her objective. Today, she has a farm where she grows crops and raises livestock; she also earns some income from a personal business. Her childhood was very challenging, and because of this, she promised herself that she would work hard to get out of poverty.

Claire is seeking a loan of KES 250,000, which she will use to pay for farm inputs and to hire laborers to grow more crops on the farm. It takes a lot for a smallholder farmer to risk her limited available resources to expand the farm's business. With your help, Claire will be able to pay the high cost of farm inputs necessary for expansion. She will invest a significant portion of the profits back into the business to fuel growth as she wants to set a good example and provide a good foundation for her children.

Claire feels inconvenienced by the services of financial institutions around her, especially when she is in need of an urgent loan. She is therefore seeking the intervention of Juhudi Kilimo, in collaboration with Kiva, to help her raise capital to buy high-quality farming inputs such as certified seeds and nutrient-rich fertilizers. She wants to plant a variety of crops which she will later sell at her local market. She thanks the entire Kiva community for their kindness.
