Suzan's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase more sacks of maize flour, cassava flour and beans to sell.

Suzan's story

Suzan is 24 years old and lives in Kaliro in the Iganga region of Uganda. She's married and has two children, one in school. For three years, she's been working hard to manage her produce store, which sells cassava flour, maize flour and beans.

To help expand her business, Suzan has requested a loan of 500,000 UGX from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more sacks of flour and beans to increase her sales, and will help Suzan increase production, attract more revenue and generate greater profits. She'll be able to buy food for her family and clothes for herself. She hopes to build a permanent house for her family.

Suzan is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to microfinance loans, the program provides a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities and a forum for life-skills training.
