Mary's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped a widowed mom to buy another dairy cow, improving her milk vending so she can generate more profits to support her family.

Mary's story

Mary, a 53-year-old widowed mom of five, lives in a typical village in the Bungoma area of Kenya, where people suffer from poverty and lack of capital. Most are smallholder farmers.

She's been farming on a small, inherited piece of land for a few years. On her farm, she practices mixed farming, selling milk and different crops as her sources of income. Mary loves dairy farming the most. Her greatest challenge is lack of enough feed for her livestock. She chose Juhudi Kilimo after learning they finance farmers to help obtain important assets.

She's borrowing to buy another dairy cow to help improve her milk vending. She believes in the slogan "unity is strength," which is why she decided to join Juhudi Kilimo. During training, Mary learned how to develop a savings culture. This loan will be of benefit to her family; they'll have more milk for consumption and sale, and their living standard will improve. Be inspired and lend to this zealous woman!
