Marcelina's story

Marcelina is a 54-year-old businesswoman from Quezon, Nueva Ecija. She is happily married to Benito, a farmer, and has been blessed with four children, three of whom are still pursuing their studies. To make a living, she has been engaged in selling brooms and broomsticks for almost 21 years.

In addition to their income is the farming business of her husband who's engaged in planting rice grains. Marcelina has had a good repayment record with Alalay sa Kaunlaran (ASKI), Inc. for about four years. She has been granted a loan request amounting to PHP 50,000 under the business loan program of ASKI.

Her loan will be used to buy materials like coconut sticks, bamboo sticks, dried bush, rope, etc. to make more brooms and broomsticks to resell. Marcelina is looking forward to having a stall for her business. She believes that with the help of ASKI and Kiva lenders, they will have a better life.
