Mujeres Virtuosas De Pajoc Group's story
The President of the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank “Mujeres Virtuosas de Pajoc” group is 26-year-old Guisela who makes beautiful traditional aprons, as well as ornate “blusas,” or blouses. She has orders to fill and is requesting her first Kiva loan to buy cloth, lace, and decorations for both her “blusas” and “delantales.” Some of her income will be earmarked to cover household expenses and upcoming educational expenses for her three children (ages 3-7).
Guisela has a high school diploma, but the majority of the seven Maya K’iche ladies in her trust bank have little or no formal education. It is so important to these women to be able to access credit and also to gain useful information about four topics: business management, health, family, and women. They also learn about prioritizing expenses and the dangers of over-indebtedness. “Microcredit Plus” describes the effective combination of loans, education, health care and other services like advanced training.
These women send their gratitude to Kiva lenders from all parts of the world who learn about them and fund their much appreciated loans! Thank you!
