Divina Misericordia 1,2 Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped Phone cards to sell.

Divina Misericordia 1,2 Group's story

Carmen is the coordinator of her group Divina Misericordia (Divine Mercy), and her story is representative of her group and of Esperanza's Haitian and Dominican (many of whom recently emigrated to the DR from Haiti) clients generally. Her group is located in the rural areas surrounding Santiago, a city known for its tobacco and beef production, where running water (none of which is potable) and electricity are unreliable. She makes her home here in a simple rented structure as a single mother with her children.

Carmen is excited to be taking her third loan with Esperanza after having fully repaid her previous loan and grown her business. She plans to use this loan to invest in her business selling phone cards (cards which, when scratched off, reveal a secret coD. which when texted to the phone company gives the customer prepaid minutes). She will use the profits to invest in her family by purchasing school supplies for her children as well as saving towards owning her own home. She thanks you all for your support.
