Eric's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support
A loan helped bring together the key elements needed to make The Raw Space a community space!
I grew up in Detroit and have lived in and out of Northwest Detroit since I was 8 years old. I was raised by a single mother, with the help of my grandfather and grandmother. My father lived in New York for as long as I could remember. I attended elementary, middle and part of high school, in the same communities that I live and am opening a business in. I attended Mumford High School, which is in the area where my business will be. After going to live with my father at the age of 16, I completed high school in New York State. I moved back to Michigan, attended and graduated from Eastern Michigan University, with a degree in History. Growing up, outside of barbershops and funeral homes, I was unaware of black business owners, that I could readily identify. Although I have an educated, intelligent and loving family, some of whom own(ed) multiple residential properties, there weren't any business owners that I knew of there either. Beginning in 2002, I spent about 7 years in education as a teacher. I've transitioned to corporate America, working the past 10 years in automotive logistics. I've been enrolled in Michigan State University's Executive MBA program. I've spent countless hours reading, studying and becoming inspired by other business owners and entrepreneurs I've met along the way. I've seen the rise, decline and current optimistic state of affairs in the city. All these things have led me to this point, creating my own business and opportunity for others in my own community. My inspiration comes from my 4 sons, Emmanuel & Eric II (twins), Robert and Malik. My plan is to leave something that they can build on and use to create more opportunities for themselves and their families and communities.
