Catherine's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy farm inputs, such as fertilizer, to enable her to grow more bananas.

Catherine's story

Hello, Kiva community!

Catherine (a 39-year-old mom of 2 children) is a mother from a remote village in the Kerugoya area of Kenya. She is a very hardworking person.

Thanks to Catherine's daily efforts, she has managed to give her lovely children a good start by providing them with a good-quality education.

Catherine’s primary sources of income are bananas and animal farming. She also earns some income from a personal business. She never had a formal education and is content with the farming lifestyle.

The Kerugoya area is a favorable area for farming, so Catherine is seeking a loan to buy farm inputs, such as fertilizer, to enable her to grow more bananas, reap maximum profits, and increase her banana business.

Being a woman and accessing funds in Kenya, especially in the Kerugoya area, is very challenging, but Catherine feels relieved knowing there are institutions, such as Kiva, that help enterprising women like her.

Catherine's goal is to improve her living conditions and secure the future of her children. Her biggest dreams are to be able to support her family by herself, to become independent, and to buy a home.

Catherine is counting on your help and hopes for your attention.
