Crystal's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!
A loan helped us to source vintage fabric, create more designs, increase marketing, and purchase a laptop computer, all to expand and grow our sustainable fashion brand.
I grew up in a low-income area of Anaheim, CA. Despite our economic circumstances, my home was filled with love and community. My parents were both Christian missionaries, so that as a young child, I was always surrounded by loving people from many different ethnicities and nationalities. I feel very fortunate to have had this experience which is the source of my desire to collaborate and connect with others. In the spirit of community, I organized a large group of local small business owners to discuss ways we could work together to increase traffic to our businesses. In the spirit of connectivity, we host free monthly pop-ups in our store to give artists and crafters a platform to sell their work. We participate in, attend, and promote many local events. I continue to use my skills as a unifier to serve my community. I have always dreamed of owning a vintage clothing store, and when the opportunity presented itself, I used my retirement accrued from 7 years working at the Federal government to fund it. The thrift store, where people from my economic background come to find their personal style, was the training grounds for my side hustle and now career as a vintage clothing dealer. With the opening of 3 Women, I was finally doing work that I love. Designing clothing happened organically and easily as a result. I’m not only trying to build a brand and thrive in Long Beach, where I have lived for the past 20 years, I also want to bring notoriety to the East Village Art District, a wonderfully diverse community of artists and small business owners. In the future, we want to employ and mentor young people interested in fashion or the vintage clothing industry and running their own business.
