Tabitha's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to purchase high-quality farm inputs to increase her productivity, make more profits, and earn funds to pay school fees for her children.

Tabitha's story

Tabitha is a 43-year-old mother who loves her children, warts and all. She is an active woman who works in agricultural activities with skills that she learned from her parents. Not only does she engage in dairy farming, but she also practices crop production. Through these activities, she has been able to earn a decent and honest income. Tabitha pursues her dreams with great passion and determination.

Unlike most microfinance organizations in Kenya, which have imposed very complicated procedures for funds acquisition, thereby discouraging smallholder farmers, Juhudi Kilimo is working closely with Kiva to make loan acquisition for a smallholder farmer easy and convenient. Through this intervention, movement of funds in the rural communities has increased, thereby alleviating rural poverty.

Tabitha is seeking this loan to purchase high-quality farm inputs to increase her productivity, make more profits, and use funds to pay school fees for her children. This loan is, therefore, an opportunity that she never got before. Her irregular income and lack of collateral security were the main drawbacks limiting her from accessing a loan from commercial banks. Thanks to Juhudi Kilimo and Kiva, the lives of Tabitha and her family will be changed through this loan.
