Kari's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support
A loan helped us expand our local farming community’s earning capacity. We are seeking a loan to add much needed freezer space to our commercial kitchen. Our kitchen currently services our farms needs as well as many other local small farms. This loan will further expand our local farming community’s earning capacity and income stability.
Kari's story
Our family moved to rural Maine in 2015 to pursue a more family centered and earth connected life. My wife and I have two young children, aged seven and nine. They were a big part of our decision to move to rural Maine, we wanted our kids to be more connected to their food and community. Upon finding our blank piece of land, we then built an off grid timber frame house and started growing seasonal vegetables and pastured poultry for both eggs and meat. Recently, we finished a commercial kitchen to add value to our bountiful produce as well as become a licensed poultry processing facility. This has helped to smooth out the very seasonal income flows of a small farm in central Maine. We have always found a passion in cooperative models and use this space to assist other small farmers access affordable processing and value added products without the large investment of a commercial kitchen.
