Sitan is the one with her hand in the peanut pile in the photo. She is Malian, uneducated, and a 47-year-old married mother of seven, ages 7-27, three of whom attend school. Her husband is a farmer. Sitan sells peanut seeds. She is taking a loan with RMCR to buy many sacks of peanuts. She stocks up at the nearby fairs and resells them at the same fairs. She has been doing this for more than 20 years. The only problem that she comes across is lack of money. Sometimes her customers give her peanuts and she doesn’t have the money to satisfy them. But with this loan, this has become a memory of the past. With her sales, she earns about 10,000f of profit. The profits she earns allow her to meet certain of her family’s and children’s needs. Her dream is to have a bigger loan to grow her business and satisfy her family’s needs.
