A loan helped a small business teach and support other small businesses to continue to grow strong and successful!
Megan's story
Being a business owner is not something I ever thought I would be, it just kind of happened! I did not grow up in a family of business owners. However, looking back now, there has always been that spirit inside of me. I would charge my siblings (I’m the oldest of 5!) to teach them sewing lessons when I was about 11 which is also around the time that I would dog sit for a neighbor when they would travel. I started babysitting at 13 until I was around 19 with a kid of my own, and got my first “real” job at 14. I was given a good deal of responsibility at a young age and I took that seriously and I’ve never been afraid of hard work. I guess that all paved the way to when I was laid off in spring of 2014, married with 2 kids and trying to figure out what was next! I’ve been born and raised in Milwaukee except for a brief 2 year period when we lived in Bethlehem, PA for my dad’s job when I was a kid. I love this city, the people, the energy and the potential! I especially love owning my own business! It is because of this love and the knowledge of the challenges involved with running a business that drives me to continue to find better ways for small business owners to understand their numbers, what they mean and how it affects the success of a business. I hope to continue making an impact in my client’s businesses as well as in other businesses striving to be better! My dream is to change the face of accounting and the mindset of the business owner in order to change the failure rate of small businesses.
