Margaret's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support
A loan helped to buy farm inputs, such as fertilizer and seeds, and improve her crop production in order to sell the crops and use the increased profits to improve her living standards.
Margaret comes from the Sotik area of Kenya. She never got the opportunity to advance her education past primary school and get a white-collar job, but that reality did not stop her dream of wanting to succeed in life. Margaret has been farming for the past few years. During this time, she has gathered much experience and all the farming techniques are at her fingertips.
Since the Sotik area is a favorable one for farming, Margaret is seeking a loan through Kiva's field partner, Juhudi Kilimo, to buy farm inputs, such as fertilizer and seeds. This will enable her to grow more crops, reap maximum profits, and increase her business.
Being a woman and accessing funds in Kenya, especially around her area, is very challenging, but Margaret feels relieved knowing there are institutions such as Kiva that help enterprising women like her.
Margaret is always working to improve her family’s living conditions, but her biggest dreams are to become independent and support her family by herself, to secure her children’s future, and to buy a home.
She is so thankful because of the trust and support from this Kiva platform.
